逗号主要用来表示连续性的思维或句子结构的短暂停顿。
例：Environmental conditions including altitude, ambient temperature, humidity, contamination, and seismic intensity.
逗号的具体用法说明如下：
(1)、用于分隔列举项目。(注意最后两项间的and 不可缺少)
例：Environmental conditions including altitude, ambient temperature, humidity, contamination, and seismic intensity.
例：There are, too, many files deleted.
(2)、用于非限制性定语从句，隔开先行词和从句。
例：You can delete those files, which are no longer used.(表附加信息—they are no longer used)
(3)、用于分隔并列的一串形容词，这些形容词共同修饰其后的名词。
例：more detailed, distinguished information
(4)、由过渡性连接副词so 与yet 引导的从句之前用逗号。
例：Accuracy classes for metering instruments of different uses are different, so do those of the associated transformers.
注意：连词so that 前不加逗号。
The covers of safety holes shall be disposed so that it is difficult for unprofessional personal to open them.
(5)、用在that is，namely 等词之后。
例：Therefore, the selected current transformer shall be ensured not to have transient saturation in the actual short-circuit duty cycle, namely, the transient error will not exceed the specified value.
副词如“then, otherwise, thus, consequently”不能单独连接从句。参见下文“分号”的用法。
例：Calculate the electrical aspect of the system, and then propose ...(不能写成 “Calculate the electrical aspect of the system, then propose...”)
当省略逗号容易产生歧义时，需加逗号。
中文中有时会出现一逗到底的情况：即一个很长的段落中不做正确的句子隔断，中间仅用逗号分隔，在段落末尾出现一个句号。
在翻译中一定要仔细断句，建议一个句子只有一个主谓宾。对较长的中文段落，英文翻译时应该按意群分成逻辑上相关联的句子。
